Partnerships Manager - Pathogena

Somya is the Partnerships Manager for Pathogena at EIT. In her role, she will collaborate with cutting-edge sequencing technology and innovation partners to develop and deploy solutions worldwide that will support the mission in diagnosing infectious diseases, detecting antimicrobial resistance and preventing outbreaks from escalating into pandemics.

Somya brings extensive experience from implementing clinical trials at the Royal Marsden Hospital to her most recent role as Deputy Director of Product & Delivery at the UK Health Security Agency. There, she led collaborations with government, academia and industry partners to develop and introduce COVID-19 testing products across the UK during the pandemic. Her experience in genomic surveillance and the vital contribution it played in the pandemic has reinforced her understanding of its critical role in detecting outbreaks and saving lives.

Somya’s academic foundation in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Leeds sparked her passion for translating scientific advancements into real-world outcomes. Outside of work, Somya thoroughly enjoys public speaking and has been invited to events and podcasts to share her insights on a range of topics. She is also an avid and adventurous traveller, with one of her proudest achievements being reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Snowdon to raise funds for charity.
