Lee Johnson is the Science Lead for the Lithium–Air Batteries program at EIT and a Professor of Electrochemistry at the University of Nottingham. He jointly leads the Nottingham Applied Materials and Interfaces Group and serves as a co-investigator on the Faraday Institution LiSTAR and FaST projects.
His research focuses on the development of next-generation energy-storage technologies, including lithium–air, magnesium, and lithium–sulfur batteries, as well as advanced electrolyte solutions for high-performance lithium-ion cells.
He is the recipient of a Nottingham Research Fellowship and an EPSRC Fellowship. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019 and to Professor in 2025.
