Maria Daraban is the Legal Director - Intellectual Property at EIT. In her role, she provides strategic and pragmatic legal advice related to intellectual property, data, and technology across a multidisciplinary research and innovation ecosystem.

Prior to joining EIT, Maria served as Legal Director at Genomics Limited in Oxford, advising on IP and licensing strategy, commercial transactions, data protection, and regulatory matters. She previously worked in the University of Oxford’s IP and commercial legal team and in private practices based in Oxford, London, and Washington, DC.

Maria is a solicitor in England and Wales, but also admitted to the New York Bar, and a registered US patent attorney. She holds a BA in Neuroscience and French from the Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School, and she recently completed a Master’s in Bioethics and Society at King’s College London.

In her spare time, Maria enjoys music, yoga, and learning languages.
