Research Engineer

Benedek Fábián

Benedek Fabian is a Research Engineer for AI & Robotics at EIT, where he contributes to building foundation models for biology as part of the Institute’s AI research efforts.

Prior to joining EIT, Beni worked at several early-stage biotech startups applying machine learning to drug discovery. At Charm Therapeutics, he developed AlphaFold-like models for oncology programs, advancing structure-based drug design. Before that, at BenevolentAI, he contributed to the chemistry platform used to design and score novel small molecules, with a focus on generative and predictive models for medicinal chemistry applications.

Beni holds an MSc in Machine Learning from University College London (UCL) and a BSc in Computer Science from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He combines a strong engineering foundation with a focus on clear, reliable code to tackle scientific challenges in protein structure prediction, molecular design, and translational research.

Outside of work, Beni enjoys playing basketball, exploring specialty coffee, and travelling - though these days mostly closer to home, as he and his partner raise a young family. He is drawn to early-stage teams with ambitious missions and is excited by the potential for meaningful impact through the work at EIT.
